General Information:

Growing mainly on the British mainland, some examples of this species have also been found in France.  The heartwood is subject to fungal attack, which turns the heartwood dark brown.  Of course that doesn’t mean the color will be consistent.  Again, the fungi are a natural occurrence.

This species is known for its coloration, but perhaps best for the strong flake figure that develops when sliced, mixed with tiny black spots, almost like leopard spots, scattered randomly throughout the veneer.
