Banana
Banana

General Information:

The banana plant is interesting, in that it will only produce one bunch of bananas from what’s called the “mother stalk.”  After the bananas are harvested, that stalk is pruned back just above the ground, out of which another stalk will grow in about 6 months, hence another bunch of bananas.

However, the stalks and dead leaves would typically be left on the ground to rot, perhaps providing some nutrients back into the plant – but more adversely, releasing CO2 into the atmosphere in the form of methane gas.

Not long ago, a group of pioneers developed a way to use the waste product and transform it into something new.  Completely Cradle to Cradle.  The endeavors of this group have been endorsed by the WWF and their products are extremely unique given where they begin.

Banana Veneer is available in specific sizes and patterns.  The agrifiber is assembled into leaves of veneer through a process somewhat similar to bamboo veneer, just on a much smaller scale.

Color differences, wrinkles and seams within the product are to be expected.  However, they add to the visual – and in the end, there is no other product like it.  Our personal favorite is laminating it glass through our sister company Intermezzo LLC.  Why?  Because it glows too!!

We appreciate your visit and hope to hear from you soon!
