General Information:
Burl growth in this species is found mainly in the Western and Southwestern parts of Europe, and typically develops when the tree has sufficient area for growth and expansion. The burl figure is not limited in terms of how far up the boul it can develop under proper conditions.
Winsor Oak is not a heavy burl pattern, but rather more of a cluster of burl surrounded by interlocking oak grain. The clusters can be close together or far apart from one another. As with typical Oak Burl, ingrown bark pockets are expected. Logs yielding less bark pockets within the burl pattern demand a higher price.
Veneer quality logs are typically half round or full rotary sliced.
