Tineo (Indian Apple Tree) – Quartered

General Information:

Also known as Indian Apple Tree, this species grows from Argentina to Chile.  It bears no relation to Malus sylvestris however.  Tineo can be flat sliced or quartered, with the latter of the two methods being most prevalent in the veneer industry.

The coloration is quite striking and encompasses pale pinks, to orange and amber and deeper red tones.  The species also exhibits variegated dark veins with an interlocking / over lain growth pattern.  Some logs will also develop areas of figure.  A closed pore wood, the texture is very smooth and takes a finish beautifully.

We appreciate your visit and hope to hear from you soon!
