General Information:
Growing in Western Africa, only a fractional percent of Sapeli will develop this pommele figure, so named after the French word meaning apple. You can see the figure underneath the bark, on the cambium layer of the wood. When found to be present, the logs are sliced on a half round to accentuate the pattern.
