General Information:
Growing from Mexico through the Northern Central American countries, this wood has often been called White Mahogany. The heartwood is a pale yellowish white / grey with light tan markings. Most often the veneers produced from these logs show dimensional qualities of figure, such as stripes, crossfire and mottling. Sometimes there is little difference between the sap and heartwood in terms of color.
Though grown outside the US, it used to be common for the round logs to be flitched in the country of origin, then shipped to the US for cooking and slicing into veneer. Prima Vera takes a stain beautifully, and has often been used in the High Point furniture market as a Mahogany.
