In addition to the growing region of Acer saccharum (hard maple), the growing region for this species also extends to the pacific coast of the US.

Logs show deep variations in color, grain, “worm track”, knots and tiny holes, even figure.  A good example is shown here.  But, as we always say – it can vary depending on the log.
