Growing in the Northwestern US, Pacific Madrone is a pale, soft textured, closed pore wood.  Coloration can be whitish to whitish yellow with light pink or amber heartwood.

Burls from this species are prized because of their potential dimension and soundness.  Cooking brings out the beautiful pink champagne color, sometimes with a little mix of amber.
