Ipe can be found distributed throughout Central and South America.  The “main” commercial consumer of this species is Brazil.  It’s said, that Ipe is one the hardest woods available commercially, and has even been called “garden” and “utilitarian” wood because of its unlikely decay and the fact it is impervious to pests.
