General Information:

A very interesting species, growing in South America from Columbia, Peru, Trinidad and Brazil.  It displays a beautiful contrast of colors, including reddish brown and darker brown patches, sometimes with black veining and overlain figure.  It’s not a popular veneer species, and is actually more available as lumber than veneer.  The wood is very hard, and often requires carbide tipped tools to work.  It takes special care to produce this veneer, which must be done slowly in order to prevent raised grain during slicing and checking (tiny cracks in the veneer) during the drying process.  It’s a closed pore wood and takes a finish marvelously, with patience.

There is no question, if you are looking for a one of a kind wow factor, this is your wood.

We appreciate your visit and hope to hear from you soon!
