The growing region of this species is southern Europe into northern Africa.  Also known as Grisard and Willow, French Aspen is actually part of the Poplar family.  In fact, it is considered by some to be the premier poplar.  Color ranges from pale almost white, to a striking amber / yellow.

Of late, this species has also been found as fumed veneer.  We call it fumed Willow.
