Widely spread from the Ivory Coast down through Cameroon and Gaboon.  The heartwood of this species is typically a lemon yellow to a darker, more brown yellow.  It has an intense luster, which at times earn it the name “African Satinwood.”

Most logs have some kind of figural quality to them, varying from a mottle to fiddleback.  The example shown here has a mixture of both.
