Also called Oregon Pine and False Hemlock, Douglas Fir isn’t actually a true Fir in the sense it does not belong to the genus: Abieus. This member of the Pine family was discovered by Scottish botanist David Douglas, which is where the written name Douglas Fir stems.
The growing region for this species is mainly British Columbia south through Washington and Oregon down into central California.
The warm golden / amber tones in this softwood give it a timeless and comforting feel.
