Supporting the Design Community

Founder Scott G. Brogan is an advocate for supporting the design communities in which the Group works, as a way to “give back” to the industry that supports us.

Supporting local IIDA Chapter events, such as Cosmo Couture in the Mid-Atlantic chapter, or participating Nationwide in programs such as Specify with Care© benefitting DIFFA, Design Industry Foundation Fighting Aids, are a couple examples of our involvement.

The Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA) developed the Specify with Care© program in conjunction with IIDA as a “cause-marketing” program to generate funds to support its mission.

Affiliates within the program pledge to donate a percentage of sales from their products or designated collections within their product lines.  In so doing, DIFFA promotes the affiliates’ brands during industry trade shows and exhibits, including its own events such as Dining by Design and newly formed Picnic by Design.  DIFFA also promotes the affiliates’ brands through various social media outlets, as well as through specific trade publications, such as Interior Design magazine.

The association of an affiliates’ brand with DIFFA through Specify with Care© not only differentiates the affiliates’ products in front of the design community audience, it also illustrates the values and good will of the affiliate’s who give back to the community that supports them.

The Scott Brogan Group participated as an affiliate in the
Specify with Care© program for 3 years.

Cosmo Couture

Cosmo Couture is an annual event in Washington DC, sponsored by the IIDA Mid-Atlantic chapter.

Using the platform of a uniquely themed fashion show, this event promotes a sense of community between local design firms and product manufacturers in order to raise funds and benefit charitable foundations within the actual community.  It’s been a success for over a decade.

Teams from local design firms are tasked with creating amazing works of couture using materials provided by the manufacturers.  The garment, designed within the years’ unique theme, as is modeled by a member of the design team as they walk the runway!  A select team of judges review the garments and award titles such as: Houte Couture, Best Interpretation of Theme and Best use of Materials just to name a few.
